Lap Band Gastric bypass utilizes a plastic band that is implanted around the top part of the stomach.   It is then adjusted periodically by adding or removing fluid to shrink of expand the opening to the stomach.   This causes the patient to feel full very quickly after eating, thus leading to eating smaller amounts.
Lap Band Gastric Bypass is the least invasive of all the weight loss surgeries and is 100% reversible.
Since this is a relatively new procedure in the USA, (FDA Approval 2001), not many insurance companies will pay for this procedure.
Weight loss is slower than with other weight loss surgeries.
